What you should know right now Oeuf! Another new year in High School… Though I'm not much of a school person, I do like the courses I signed up for. Bio, Chemistry, French, etc? Not because I do dancing doesn't mean that I have to limit myself to the arts. I like to challenge myself (mentally, physically would lead to exhaustion J ) but of course I HAD to take music and theatre. This year we are doing My Favorite Year, it'll be great to see how this turns out and I'm hoping that my fosse-styled dances will sparkle, sparkle, sparkle.
Self Description
Daughter, activist, dancer, writer, historian, cultured.
Proudest Accomplishment
More like my proudest moment which would have been at Vimy Ridge , France wearing a World War One soldiers uniform, representing Canadian soldiers who fell in both WWI and WWII. I've never been so proud in my life to be a Canadian. My parents thought I was just gallivanting off to Europe with friends but they soon realized that it was so much more and I hardly talked to my friends on the trip! On that day I had my first radio interview from France with listeners in Montreal and before we left for Europe I was interview on Canada AM about the soldier I was representing at Vimy Ridge (Thomas E. Siddle). That whole trip filled my chest with Canadian pride.
Hardest learned lesson
My hardest lesson learned is that people change. No matter what you do a person will always mature and become someone different. Sometimes they will change for the worst and sometimes for the best, the only thing one can do is support them if you love them and confront them if it's doing harm to them or others.
Also, learning how to open up to others was a hard lesson. No one ever did anything to hurt me and I don't have a grudge on anybody but I found it amazingly difficult to trust people. It wasn't until I learned I could confide in my parents that I slowly started to open up to people. Now people know that they can come to me for.
What inspires me
Movies definitely inspire me especially period pieces. It helps me take a glimpse into the past for about two hours. One of the best period pieces that inspired me was Vanity Fair and Lagaan (a Bollywood film). Another film was V for Vendetta, believe it or not. Some books actually inspire me as well like Tuck Everlasting, The Silverwing Trilogy (now quintet) and the Children of the Lamp quintet.
Who inspires me in my city
David Leo ...................................................... I don't know if it's supposed to be females on this site only but definitely my father inspires me. He and I would often talk on our adventures to Toronto about human evolution, religion, and people. He taught me to have a well rounded background and to try to be as non-biased as I could. He challenged me mentally whereas many challenge me with dancing (not competitively of course!). My dad is a teddy bear with a genius I.Q. and I love that he is so comfortable being himself.
Geeta Leo ........................................................ Dance school owner/ choreographer/ mentor. My mom is also another person who inspires me. I always struggle with maintaining friendships with people my age but when it all boils down, she and my dad are my best friends. She mentors her own students sometimes with such grace, always making sure that they know the truth instead of feeding them what they want to hear. Not only that but my mother is the type of woman who knows how to charm strangers and she doesn't even do it on purpose! She is a very helpful lady and I wouldn't trade her for a dime! She is a diamond.
Others who inspire me .
Ellen Degeneres .............................. Ellen Degeneres! Who cares if she is a lesbian? She maintains a very normal life (minus the fact that she has her own talk show) and is an extremely funny comedian! Ellen is the type of woman that accepts being different and isn't afraid of the world. I believe that this approach is a great way to succeed in life. To love who you are full heartedly allows you to love others with double the love and compassion.
